The world’s in somewhat of a slump – economically, socially, and emotionally. But all’s certainly not lost.

Amid difficult, ever-changing circumstances, we have no choice but to make the most of things and truly try to enjoy life, however we can.

Clark S. Cox, a software engineer for Apple, uploaded a new video that set social media ablaze. It’s a music video of sorts, featuring two of his good friends performing along to the Grease classic “You’re the One That I Want,” originally starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta.

Although they’re not exactly Newton-John and Travolta, the pair deliver a dashing performance.

And they have some amazing chemistry. They give Travolta and Newton-John a run for their money.

Their video starts a few seconds into the song, both in character and visible outside the window of the car.

They begin lip-syncing, mouthing along to the lyrics.

The duo takes turns switching between Travolta, Newton-John, and the backing vocals. They’re not half bad.

Overcoming boredom’s one of the toughest challenges of the ongoing lockdowns, quarantines, and general social distancing. It’s pretty hard not to go crazy or get really, really frustrated on a day-to-day basis.

The pop tune continues,

“‘Cause the power you’re supplying
It’s electrifying!”

The dancers pretend to be shocked, pulsating their bodies to the rhythm. They’re excellent performers.

But these guys won’t let anything stop them from having a good time.

The simple, stripped-down production quality adds to the sincerity of the performance. At its core, the video’s just a group of talented, bored friends having fun during the doldrums of the coronavirus pandemic.

But not only are they keeping themselves thoroughly entertained, they’re helping us get through it, too.

Newton-John continues her part of the duet,

“You better shape up, ’cause I need a man”

Friend in the background does a little jig. I can’t blame him, it’s a catchy tune.

She goes on,

“And my heart is set on you”

The background performer makes a heart gesture with his hands as the one in the foreground continues to sweep across the screen.

They’re all smiles.

They’re clearly having an amazing time,

“You better shape up, you better understand
To my heart, I must be true”

Both pause a minute, fake-belting along to the lyrics.

The guy in the foreground turns his head emphatically,

“Nothing left, nothing left for me to do”

The next part’s iconic.

The glossy, anthemic chorus kicks in. They both turn directly at the camera, performing a series of dance shimmies, mouthing along to the words,

“You’re the one that I want (you are the one I want)
Oo-oo-oo, honey”

They’ve got some seriously smooth moves.

Friend on the left runs emphatically in place, clearly into the music. Everybody knows the catchy chorus,

“The one that I want (you are the one I want)
Oo-oo-oo, honey”

About the performance, Clark wrote, “This is why the Internet was invented.”

Well, we’re certainly happy that the Internet’s around for you to share your friends’ hilarious, theatrical lip-sync cover of “You’re the One That I Want.” As it stands, the video has over 256 thousand interactions on Facebook.

For now, we’ll continue to adapt, looking for new ways to keep our minds occupied. Like Clark and his friends, we can still find joy and happiness hidden amongst our new circumstances.

Thanks for bringing a smile to our faces, Clark and friends – we need it now more than ever. Plus, you’re incredibly talented performers (and lip-syncers).
